Storage Hunter Simulator
It is no secret that I enjoy playing a good Simulator from time to time haha. Recently, while listening to a podcast, I learned of this game. I went in not expecting much, I thought it would just be a mindless game of winning an auction, selling your stuff inside and the repeat.
I didn't expect it to go a bit further and involve you buying a pawn shop, running it and climbing the ladder to riches lol.
I started with a basic understanding of what it involves storage hunting, I have never seen any of the shows on the subject matter, but I knew it would involve some sort of auction. So I headed into the game and found myself playing for hours. I went from one auction to another, looking at what I have just bought and selling it all to start making money to go to then next. I didn't expect time to play a factor in the game, you can only do auctions from 8am to 6pm at the begining, as you go you unlock the ability to go to auctions a bit later in the day. Once you win an auction, you must scan the items in the storage, to see if you broke even or if you made a profit.
I didn't expect having to play Tetris with all my items, you start with a small truck and you must balance everything on the bed of the truck In order to transport it. The quicker you do it, the less time you waste trying to get everything in your truck to take to a pawn shop to sell it all. The more time you take, the less time you will have to go to another auction or go to a specialized store for certain items you won't be able to asses yourself when you first start.
That brings me to another facet of the game, the appraisal of items. At the begining you will only be able to appraise normal items, but as you buy better equipment, you will be able to start appraising rare items. Otherwise, if you still don't have what it takes to appraise it yourself, you will have to take time out of your day to go to a specialized store for certain items, and get your items appraised. Each appraisal will cost you money and will take a certain amount of time throughout the day to get done. Once you have it appraised, you can either see if the item can be traded in to a collector or sale it for profit. But be aware, that each item will be in different condition. Some will be broken, some will be in bad condition, normal, great or perfect. You will be able to repair items once you unlock a repair tool, but will only be able to repair them to a certain level, until you buy the upgrades to your tool, necessary to fix the item to it's best condition possible.
Overall, I was pleasantly surprised with how indepth this game has gone to make sure you get a taste of what storage hunting is, without making it feel repetitive and boring.
My only gripe with the game, I how slow your truck is. Even though it reaches a speed of 60mph, it feels as if you were just waking, which wastes so much time you could be using going to auctions or selling your items.
With all that out there, I give this game a rating of 8.5/10. The speed of the truck and how expensive the upgrades to your tools are, made me dislike it a little, but I will more than likely will keep playing it to try and get a pawn shop in each region available in the game.
